With "La BD à tous les étages" (Comics on Every Floor), the Centre Pompidou celebrates the 9th art form in all its spaces, and at every level!
On level 6, discover the "Bande Dessinée, 1964 - 2024" exhibition, a veritable journey through the modern and contemporary history of the medium, bringing together for the first time in France its three main sources of expression: European creation, Asian manga and American comics. Through twelve themes and a play of unexpected echoes between authors, the exhibition evokes the imaginary world of comics, the emotions they arouse, and the diversity of the techniques employed. The exhibition focuses on diversity, presenting large groups of plates, cover drawings, notebooks, documentation and audiovisual devices.
In collaboration with composer Sébastien Gaxie, IRCAM has created Echoes of Words and Drawings, a soundtrack to the plates exhibited in the "Literature" section, based on the books Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck), Brouillard sur le pont de Tolbiac (Léo Mallet), Pinocchio (Carlo Collodi), and Vernon Subutex (Virginie Despentes).
