Boulez – Répons by Robert Cahen
Répons by Pierre Boulez, a work for six soloists, instrumental ensemble, and electroacoustic setup, premiered in 1981. Robert Cahen films the musicians of the Ensemble intercontemporain, adds waves, foliage, and reworks this visual material. He cuts, slows down, multiplies, bursts the image apart, creating a fantastical universe that emphasizes the timeless and almost impressionistic quality of the music. 42 minutes, 1985
