Length: approximately 1 hour 40 minutes
This concert by the Ensemble intercontemporain brings together, through music, masters of painting in a dialogue with the color blue. blaauw by Rebecca Saunders refers to the musician who inspired the piece, trumpeter Marco Blaauw, and to the blues of Kandinsky and Jarman. Blue appears again in Lara Morciano’s work, evoking a "sky that has just been plowed." A friend of Willem de Kooning, Morton Feldman pays tribute to him with the piece bearing his name—an attempt to translate visual perception into musical processes. Equally passionate about painting, Hèctor Parra turns to Joan Miró for L’Étoile matinale, as well as for his new work for trumpet, ensemble, and electronics—a musical immersion into three blues, inspired by the masterful Triptych by the Catalan painter.
