Mark Andre studied at the Paris Conservatory (composition, counterpoint, harmony, analysis and musical research), as well as at the École normale supérieure, where he defended his thesis in 1994: Compossible musical de l'Ars subtilior. From 1993 to 1996 he studied with Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart. He then studied computer music with André Richard at the Experimental Studio of the SWR in Freiburg.

 

Winner of numerous international prizes, he teaches counterpoint and orchestration at the conservatory in Strasbourg and at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt, and composition at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. The opera Wunderzaichen was premiered in 2014 at the Stuttgart Opera, directed by Jossi Wieler and conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.

 

Since 2005, Mark Andre has lived in Berlin.
