José Miguel Fernández studied music and composition at the University of Chile and at LIPM in Buenos Aires. He then studied composition at the CNSMD in Lyon and followed the Cursus program at IRCAM. In 2014, he was selected by IRCAM to follow the composer-in-residence program on interaction in mixed music and, in 2018, for a residency in partnership with the SAT in Montreal.

 

In 2021, he will defend his doctoral thesis in music (composition research) at Sorbonne University. His research project focuses primarily on writing for electronics and finding new tools for the creation of mixed and electroacoustic music.
