2023 is Ligeti's anniversary year. His Lux Aeterna of 1966 is an emblematic work, timeless, used as for just this reason by Kubrick in his film 2001: A Space Odyssey. A musical setting of a part of the Catholic requiem, its micro-polyphonic treatment sounds like a memory of the prayers chanted in the synagogue. What is Ligeti's legacy today? Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė imagines Iridescence, a variant of Lux Aeterna's luminous surface tending toward the electronic world. For his part, the Hungarian Marton Illés looks to the multiplicity of styles and successive languages of Ligeti, who in his Drei Phantasien nach Friedrich Hölderlin (1982), had abandoned the micro-polyphony of the early days. The perfection of the SWR choir finally allows the Parisian public to rediscover an exceptional composer dominating his generation, Alberto Posadas. His Ubi sunt takes as its musical program a memorial question carried by texts of Novalis, Stefan George, Master Eckhart: "Where are those who were before us? »
