Janus brings together the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles and IRCAM: an unprecedented encounter between the present and the classical century, between creations with electronics and 17th century vocal music. The prodigious revival of Baroque music in the 1960s corresponds to the rise of contemporary music, with the emergence of musical ensembles outside the philharmonic system? The profusion of musical forms in the 17th and 18th centuries can only be compared to the upheavals experienced by the 20th century? So many founding reasons for Janus. The constraints of writing for a vocal choir have been understood and accepted by Ariadna Alsina Tarrés. She finds her source of inspiration in Pierre Perrin's Lachrymae, used by Jean-Baptiste Lully, the signal processing eroding the sound. To complete the "Janus" effect, this present of the past, the acoustics of Versailles have been modeled, to transform the Espace de projection into a royal chapel for one single night.
